The Aspirations of the International Criminal Law Project: a Dream and a Narrative

Thursday, January 26, 2017 11:00to12:00
Chancellor Day Hall Stephen Scott Seminar Room (OCDH 16), 3644 rue Peel, Montreal, QC, H3A 1W9, CA

For the first session of the Winter 2017 DCL Research Series, doctoral candidate Vincent Dalpé will speak on "The Aspirations of the International Criminal Law Project: a Dream and a Narrative".

In his talk, Vincent will connect Michel Foucault's Discipline and Punish as well as Robert Cover's Nomos and Narrative to mainstream discourse regarding the international criminal law's aspirations (giving criminals their just deserts, expressing our common bond of humanity, bringing justice for victims, etc.).

The DCL Research Series takes place several times during the academic year. It is a platform for DCL students to share their research and receive feedback. All are welcome to attend!  For more info, contact Brian Bird (brian.bird [at] mail.mcgill.ca).
