Morton and Bernice Brownstein Fellowship in Jewish Studies
Value: $10,000
Established in 2000 by Morton and Bernice Brownstein, this fellowship will be awarded by the Department of Jewish Studies to a graduate student or a postdoctoral candidate in the Department of Jewish Studies.

Grosser Family and Ben R. Wallace Memorial Scholarship
Value: $500
This award was established by Mr. J.R. Grosser, Ms. Rita Grosser and Mrs. Sylvia Wallace in memory of David and Esther Grosser. The scholarship is housed in the B’nai Brith Hillel Foundation and the recipient is chosen by the Department of Jewish Studies. It is to be awarded to a distinguished graduate student in the Department of Jewish Studies on the recommendation of the Chair of the Department, in consultation with the departmental Scholarships Committee.

Sarah and Joseph Lazarus Graduate Prize in Jewish Studies
Value: $1,000
Awarded by the Department of Jewish Studies, Faculty of Arts, to a graduate student in a program of the Department on the basis of academic merit.

Dr. Oscar and Sally Schickler Scholarship for Jewish Studies
Value: one award of $5,000 or two awards of $2,500
Established by the late Dr. Oskar Schickler in 2008 and administered by the Jewish Community Foundation of Montreal, this scholarship is a testament to the Schicklers’ lifelong commitment to creating educational opportunities to students of all ages. Awarded annually to undergraduate or graduate students on the recommendation of the Department of Jewish Studies.

Jack Gitlitz Memorial Scholarship
Value: $5,000 each
Established in 2011 and administered by the Jewish Community Foundation of Montreal. Two scholarships awarded annually to undergraduate or graduate students who are residents of Quebec. Awarded for excellence in Jewish Studies on the recommendation of the Department of Jewish Studies.

Bernard Michael Tarshis Memorial Fund
Value: $4,000 each
Established in 2010 and administered by the Jewish Community Foundation of Montreal. Two scholarships awarded annually to undergraduate or graduate students. Awarded for excellence in Jewish studies on the recommendation of the Department of Jewish Studies.

Nettie Zuckerman Vininsky Gordon Scholarship in Jewish Studies
Value: $2,000
Established in 2011 through a bequest from Nettie Zuckerman Vininsky Gordon. Scholarships for outstanding students enrolled in the Department of Jewish Studies. Open to undergraduate or graduate students. Awarded by the Faculty of Arts upon recommendation of the Department of Jewish Studies.

Elca and Tom Taras Scholarship
Value: $3,000
Established in 2012 and administered by the Jewish Community Foundation of Montreal. Awarded annually to undergraduate or graduate students for excellence in Jewish Studies on the recommendation of the Department of Jewish Studies. Preference is given to a student who has taken courses in Jewish law.

Andre and Huguette Veres Scholarship in Jewish Studies
Value: $1,000
Established in 2012 and administered by the Jewish Community Foundation of Montreal. Awarded annually to an outstanding undergraduate or graduate Jewish Studies student on the recommendation of the Department.

Gisia Kiselvsky Graduate Fellowship in Jewish Studies

Established in 2013 by Joel King, BSc 1968, BCL 1971, LLB 1972 and his family, in memory of his grandmother Gisia Kiselvsky to support one or more outstanding graduate students in the Department of Jewish Studies in the Faculty of Arts. Awarded by the Faculty of Arts, upon recommendation of the Department of Jewish Studies on the basis of academic merit.

Henriette and Marcel Korner Scholarship
Value: $1,000
Established in 2013 and administered by the Jewish Community Foundation of Montreal. Awarded annually to an outstanding undergraduate or graduate Jewish Studies student on the recommendation of the Department.

Rosa and David z"l Finestone Scholarship
Value: $250
Established in 2014 and administered by the Jewish Community Foundation of Montreal. Awarded annually to a student excelling in the study of the Hebrew language.
