IT Alert: Fraudulent "Phishing" Email

Please note that there is a phishing attack (fraudulent email message) being circulated within the McGill community. Please do not reply to the message and delete it ASAP. Remember, McGill IT will never ask for your password.

The email content is:

Subject: Email Deactivation

Important Notice,

This is to inform all McGill University  staffs/students that we intend upgrading our server for security reasons, to help block Spam mails and for better services in order to ensure that you don't experience poor/weak network. We are deactivating some accounts from our database which are suspected phishing accounts. You are to respond this alert to sincerely confirm that your account is still active on our database immediately with the following information-:

Full Name:

Password:

Date of Birth (DoB):

How many times have you change your Password:

WARNING!!! The requested information is needed for identification purposes and to assign to our staffs/students best of services only. Account owners that refuse to respond to this alert his/her account will be deactivated permanently from our database. This message is from the IT department at GATECH Georgia Institute of Technology
