IT Alert: Phishing Scam

There are two known phishing scam emails circulating. We are taking active steps to decrease our exposure to these scams. As always, McGill IT will never ask for your username, password or send you a link with an executable extension (.exe). Please delete the items if you receive them.

Text samples from these scams are below:

Subject: campus.mcgill.ca account notification

Dear Customer,

This e-mail was send by campus.mcgill.ca to notify you that we have temporanly prevented access to your account.

We have reasons to beleive that your account may have been accessed by someone else. Please run this file and Follow instructions:

Subject: System Administrator

Your mailbox quota has been exceeded the storage limit which is 20GB, You cannot send or receive mail when your mailbox reaches 20.9GB. You are currently running on 20.8GB You may not be able to send or receive new mail until you reduce your mailbox size.

To make more space available, Do click the link below;
