Initiating a Project
Step 1 - Create a Project Charter
Once a project is approved or provisionally approved, a project charter is required. The project charter should expand on the elements of the needs statement and include the following: project structure (resources), deliverables, timeline, budget, etc.
Step 2 - Get Project Charter approval
The project charter is submitted for approval to the sponsor and the CIO, and depending on the complexity of the project, it may go through several revisions. Once approved, a decision is made to continue on from initiating to planning the project.
