Reminder - Worf (Novell NetWare) public domain server decommissioning

As part of the overall university initiative to phase out NetWare file and print services, all services currently provided by WORF (public domain NetWare server) will be migrated to a Windows environment or eliminated no later than Friday, January 14, 2005.

Macdonald campus Internet and telephone service will run on bypass route

Internet and telephone service has been restored to Macdonald campus. Hydro-Québec, Bell Canada and RISQ created a temporary bypass route. Work to migrate back to the regular route will not take place tomorrow as originally stated, but sometime in the future. There is no time frame as to when this will be done.

Macdonald campus Internet and telephone service restored

Internet and telephone service has been restored to Macdonald campus. Hydro-Québec and Bell Canada created a temporary bypass route. A transfer back to the original route to restore full service will be done tomorrow morning. As a result there might be a short downtime to telephone and Internet service at Macdonald campus tomorrow morning between 08h00 and 08h30 for around 10 minutes.

Macdonald campus loses communications due to a fire

Due to a fire in one of Hydro-Québec's substations, communications into and out of Macdonald campus have been affected. Within Macdonald campus, there is full telephone service, and outgoing calls are possible; however, incoming calls are not possible. Internet access is also not possible. NCS is making efforts to resolve Internet connectivity and restore telephone service. Hydro-Québec is working to resolve this problem.

Internet connectivity problems resolved

Our Internet service provider was experiencing problems on their network yesterday afternoon, which was subsequently causing Internet connectivity problems within the McGill community yesterday afternoon. These problems have since been resolved and full Internet service should be back to normal.
