Wireless network protocol 802.11b to be decommissioned on campus
The 802.11b wireless protocol will be decommissioned on the McGill campus wireless network on May 9, 2011. If you are suddenly unable to access the McGill wireless network you may need to purchase a new wireless network card. If you are unsure, contact the ICS Service Desk for assistance at 514-398-3398.

Staff email is currently slow due to a high load on Exchange servers used for staff mailboxes. Response time will improve as content is synchronized over the next few hours.

April 8 – New URL for managing quarantined email
McGill’s Anti-Spam Service filters all incoming email and “quarantines” those messages suspected of being spam. On April 8, McGill’s IT Services will change the URL of the website for managing quarantined email messages.
Copy Card Refunds available as of Monday, March 28
Refunds for Copy Cards will start on Monday, March 28. Download and complete the Copy Card Refund Form, available at http://kb.mcgill.ca/it/uprint, and bring it to a Copy Card Refund Kiosk. The remaining balance on your Copy Card(s) will be refunded as a credit to your student account.

McGill Software Site Upgrade, April 1, 11 am to 12:30 pm
McGill's Software Licensing site will be upgraded to a new version of the eStore on Friday, April 1, 2011. The new website interface offers a more streamlined process for ordering software. If you have a bookmark to the underlying E-Academy site you should replace it with www.mcgill.ca/software.

NEW: Data Warehouse high availability - reduced downtime during refresh
For the past 10 years, the Data Warehouse has been taken off-line every night for approximately 90 minutes in order to be refreshed with live production data. Now the data refresh can be done in the background, resulting in only a 5-minute downtime at the beginning of the refresh and another 5-minute downtime upon completion.
