There is a phishing email targeting the McGill community, with the subject "McGill Incoming Mail On hold." and signature "McGillUniversity Team Privacy Policy | Customer Support, ©2017 Office 365 Mcgill University Support Team. Phishing scam: "Confirm your account."

There is a phishing email targeting the McGill community, with the subject  "Confirm your account.". The message states that the recipient's account has been locked due to a verification process that is being enforced. To re-activate the account, the recipient is asked to click on a fraudulent link. COMPLETED: Trend Micro OfficeScan upgrade October 4, 10, 11

IT Services has successfully installed new critical patches for Trend Micro OfficeScan on all campus computers and laptops.

ORIGINAL MESSAGE

IT Services will be installing two new critical patches on McGill’s Antivirus server, Trend Micro OfficeScan, on all campus computers and laptops. Home computers are not affected.

The upgrade will be staggered and performed at 6:30 pm until 7:00 pm on one of the following days:

End of support for Office 2007 - no access to email on Office 365 after October 31, 2017

Microsoft has announced it is ending support for Office 2007 as of October 10, 2017. This means there will be no support for technical issues or bug fixes and no security updates for vulnerabilities.

In addition, as of October 31, 2017 Outlook 2007 will be unable to connect to Office 365 mailboxes.

One variation contains the subject "Shared Important e-Documents attached to you". The message contains a fraudulent link to "View The Shared File Here". Apple Mail app in iOS 11 incompatible with Email on Office 365

If you have upgraded your iPhone or iPad to iOS 11 you may encounter issues accessing your McGill email. That's because the Mail app on newly released iOS 11 is currently not compatible with Outlook.com (email on Office 365).  If you are still using iOS 9 or iOS 10, you are not affected.
