D2: Live and ready for new requests

Introducing D2

As of August 2nd, 2017, D2 is the main web-based document management solution used at McGill for creating, managing and publishing electronic documents. D2 is the replacement solution for CenterStage, which lost vendor support in spring 2017.

Anti-spam quarantine to be replaced by anti-spam protection in Office 365

In order to take full advantage of the features of Email on Office 365, IT Services will be replacing our anti-spam quarantine system with Office 365’s anti-spam protection features.

MyCourses Intermittent login Timeouts

~~Intermittent Login Timeouts myCourses is currently experiencing a system disruption that may temporarily prevent users from logging in. The timeouts are currently occurring every 10-20 minutes and may last up to 30 seconds. We have reported the issue to the vendor and will continue to monitor system performance.

COMPLETED: Trend Micro OfficeScan upgrade July 17, 18, 19

IT Services has completed installing a new critical patch on McGill’s Antivirus server, Trend Micro OfficeScan, on all campus computers and laptops.

IT Services will be installing a new critical patch on McGill’s Antivirus server, Trend Micro OfficeScan, on all campus computers and laptops. Home computers are not affected.

Wireless unavailable at Roddick Gates & Crossroads

Due to construction at the downtown campus, wireless coverage is unavailable at the Roddick Gates and the Crossroads (the main entry road and the road in front of the Three Bares statue).

RESOLVED: Downtown campus - telephones are now functioning

July 12, 2017:

IT Services have made the necessary repairs to the telephone system. All users will now have full access to their telephones.

ORIGINAL message: July 10, 2017:

Telephones situated in the north west section of the downtown campus are not functioning.

Technicians should have the problem resolved tomorrow. We apologize for the inconvenience.

RESOLVED: uPrint Anywhere service is now available

Update - July 4, 4:00 pm: The uPrint Anywhere issue has been resolved.

Original announcement- July 4, 12:50 pm:

uPrint Anywhere is a sub-service of uPrint which allows students, faculty and staff to send print jobs via email from any computer, laptop, or mobile device to a uPrint device on campus.

Note: Print jobs sent directly to uPrint via desktop computers using the uPrint drivers are not affected.

Malicious email from compromised McGill account - subject: "McGILLS"

There is a malicious email circulating which comes from a McGill professor's account, which was compromised. It says that the sender has "shared an Important Document ..." and contains a link to OPEN FOLDER. See an example of this message below.

Password reset required for resource accounts

Sponsors of McGill resource accounts were notified in May and asked to reset the passwords of those accounts by May 24.  Any resource account passwords which were not changed since March have now been reset by IT Services and the accounts will not be accessible until the passwords are changed.

Phishing scam: "Library Account"

There is a phishing email circulating advising customers that their library account has expired and that they must click on a fraudulent link in order to reactivate it. See an example of this phishing message below.
