Impact of MUNACA strike on some IT services


In light of the labour disruption at McGill University, there are some important effects on MUNACA employee accounts, also, the IT services listed at the bottom of this message will be limited or temporarily suspended. We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause, and thank you for your patience.

How MUNACA employee accounts are affected:

  • During the strike most MUNACA employees will not have access to any IT services, including email, Banner/Minerva, and so on.
  • Note: Only Directors, Deans or Chairs (or their Associate counterparts) can request the following. Please contact ICS Service Desk with your request.
    • Delegate access to a MUNACA member's email* or network shares
    • Modification of the default Out of Office email message already set up for MUNACA members
    • Password change for voicemail.

ICS Service Desk hours will not be affected during this period.
Regular telephone support hours are:

  • Monday to Thursday 8:00 am - 6:30 pm
  • Friday 8:00 am - 5:00 pm

Limited/delayed services:

  • Some application software development projects will be delayed
  • Installation of video surveillance equipment, card reader and alarm system
  • Phone and LAN jack repairs
  • Visits to units to perform onsite desktop support (applies to units which are centrally supported by ICS)

Temporarily suspended services:

  • Phone, network, security and new classroom installations, except those identified as very high priority
  • Laptop repairs
  • AV loan counter
  • CATV production
  • Support for Live Events and Public Display screens
  • For units which are centrally supported by ICS:
    • New workstation and printer installations, except to replace non‐functioning units
    • Workstation operating system upgrades
    • Large-scale software deployments on individual computers
    • New machine images
