Last week we experienced problems with McGill Exchange email for students and alumni, which resulted in loss of email access for two days and inability for those affected to access older email messages for several days.
These problems were resolved over the weekend and affected students and alumni can now access their McGill email as usual. We were able to recover all messages except for those sent between approx. 5:00 pm, Saturday March 27 and the failure at approx. 11:40 am on Monday, March 29th; these were lost due to corrupted log files.
We regret that these messages were lost. However, we have contacted all those senders, explaining the technical problems and asking them to resend their messages.
McGill IT Services wishes to express its sincere apologies to all who were inconvenienced. Through this situation, we have gained the technical knowledge to alleviate the consequences should a similar incident occur in the future.
