Warning: CryptoLocker Virus infecting computers

To prevent the spread of CryptoLocker virus and other malware, McGill IT is quarantining all .ZIP attachments that contain .EXE files. See related announcement.

Original announcement - October 10, 2013:
There is currently a virus infecting computers all over the world.  If you receive any emails containing .ZIP file attachments, DO NOT open them.

Students / Home users: If your computer is infected with the CryptoLocker virus, please do not share any files with other users, or upload them to myCourses. Contact your antivirus service provider immediately. If you have Trend Micro Titanium antivirus, the update protecting users from this virus was released yesterday. Titanium automatically checks for program updates every 3 hours when connected to the internet.

Faculty and Staff: If your computer is infected with the CryptoLocker virus, please shut down your computer immediately and notify the IT Administrator in your department. Units that are supported by central IT Services, contact the ICS Service Desk at 514-398-3398.
