myCourses: minor update scheduled for April 30

A minor update will be applied to myCourses on April 30 from 12:00 am to 8:00 am. This update will build on the stability of the learning environment and add a few new features for both instructors and students, ranging from the ability to drag-and-drop files directly into the list of content, to replying inline within discussions.

The myCourses system is currently experiencing intermittent errors when users attempt to log in. If you are unable to log in to myCourses, please close your browser and try again in a few minutes.

Resolved: myCourses - problems with uploading files and using various tools

Status update, 6:50 pm
The issues reported below have now been resolved.

Initial announcement:
myCourses is currently experiencing server problems; with the result that users cannot:

  • Upload files 
  • Import or export grades (instructors)
  • Access tools such as Discussions, some Course Home pages, etc.

The vendor is working to resolve the issue as soon as possible. We apologize for the inconvenience.

myCourses - Instructors need to re-add "External Tools" widget (for Lecture Recording)

As of yesterday, Sept 23, 2013, the External Tools widget, used to modify lecture recording settings, was removed from all Course Home pages. Instructors who use Lecture Recordings and need to change the settings, e.g.

myCourses upgrade completed!

The myCourses upgrade has been successfully completed and the system is now available.

The first thing you'll notice is a brand new interface. But don't be worried; once you start working with it you'll realize that all the familiar tools are basically unchanged. There are improvements to general usability and to tools such as Content and Grades. See the New Features on the LMS website.

Maintenance for authentication system used to log into myCourses, Involved@McGill and other systems - May 26, 2013

On Sunday, May 26, between 9:00 and 9:10 am there will be a scheduled maintenance for the University's federated authentication system, which is used to log users into myCourses, Involved@McGill and other systems. Logins may be affected for approximately 1 minute during this 10-minute maintenance window.

If you are having problems logging into myCourses during this time you can still access myCourses via the myMcGill portal.

Server maintenance - Nov. 26 from 6 pm to 11:59 pm: Potential interruptions to several services

Maintenance will be performed on the Enterprise Storage Area Network (SAN) on Monday, November 26 between 6 pm and 11:59 pm. We do not anticipate any impact on McGill applications or IT services, however, with any such maintenance, problems may be incurred. We apologize in advance for any service interruptions.

Resolved: myCourses experiencing intermittent problems

Update - March 14, 3:00 pm
The problems reported yesterday with accessing and navigating myCourses and uploading files, have been resolved. The system seems to be stable now but continues to be monitored by the vendor.

Initial announcements:
The myCourses Learning Management System, is currently experiencing intermittent network problems. Some users may not be able to access the system or navigation may be slow.

myCourses is currently experiencing a problem uploading files.
