Staff can now create up to 20 Guest Wireless Access accounts at a time

McGill staff members can now create up to 20 Guest accounts at a time by using the self-service Guest Network Account Creation form.

These accounts provide up to 30 days of wireless and/or McGill Network access (if the guest needs access to resources on the McGill network, departmental shares, etc.).

MATLAB coming April 1st for all McGill students

As of April 1st, the latest version of MATLAB® will be available for students to download for free via the McGill Software site (www.mcgill.ca/software).

MATLAB is a high-level language and interactive environment that enables you to perform computationally intensive tasks faster than with traditional programming languages.

uApply (Graduate Admissions System) downtime - April 1

The uApply system will undergo a scheduled downtime on Wednesday, April 1, between 6:30 am and 8:30 am. The system will be unavailable during this period. 

uApply is the system used by applicants to McGill graduate programs and by admissions staff to process those applications.

Campus Wireless maintenance Thursday, March 26

Maintenance on Knowledge Base service Saturday, March 28

On Saturday, March 28, 2015, from 9:00 am to 1:00 pm, McGill's Knowledge Base services will undergo maintenance to upgrade the underlying software.  Knowledge bases for Information Technology and Financial Services, as well as internal/non-public knowledge bases, may be unavailable during this period.

The upgrade will provide improved support for mobile devices; you will be able to scroll though complete articles on mobile smartphones and tablets.

Web VPN service no longer available to access Library e-resources as of March 16, 2015

As of March 16, 2015, the Web VPN service will only be available to access archived online courses in WebCT (Fall 2010 to Winter 2012).

Current students, faculty and staff can access Library e-resources via wireless network when on campus, and directly from the web browser via EZProxy or via McGill's VPN when off-campus.

Alumni, who cannot use the McGill VPN, are now able to access a subset of Library e-resources directly from your web browser by signing in wit

McGill Password Security Questions (PSS) was decommissioned on February 23

As part of an ongoing effort to streamline services, the McGill Password Security Questions (PSS) tool was decommissioned on Monday, February 23. While this tool was initially launched with the goal of providing additional security questions and password reset functionality to our end-users, it essentially duplicated options that were already available in Minerva and caused user confusion.

Disruption of wired & wireless network in BMH Friday, March 6

Resolution: Windows update causes problems with Cisco AnyConnect VPN client

The Cisco AnyConnect client software, which is used to connect to McGill's VPN, does not work after the Windows update for IE11 is installed. The error message displayed is:
"Failed to initialize connection subsystem".

To resolve this issue, run Windows Update. Windows Update is included in your Control Panel. To check for updates:
