By the end of January 2008, McGill IST will enforce Secure Sockets Layer (SSL) for all on-campus users who have configured their email clients to use IMAP or POP (Outlook Express, Eudora, Entourage, etc.). In early October, SSL was made mandatory for all external clients and affiliates. This new restriction will apply to ALL INTERNAL EMAIL clients as well. See "Details" for instructions.

The W32.Blackmal worm series, a mass-mailing worm that propagates both by email and network shares, is the latest security threat to McGill email.
As part of the overall university initiative to phase out NetWare file and print services, all services currently provided by WORF (public domain NetWare server) will be migrated to a Windows environment or eliminated no later than Friday, January 14, 2005.
Support for the PO-BOX server will be ending on December 31, 2007. If you are still using the PO-BOX email server, you need to click "Details" below and follow the steps to migrate to the Exchange server as soon as possible. (You need to do this yourself; it can't be done for you automatically.)
The cause of the failure of WebCT Vista at approximately 4:30 pm, April 12, has been identified and corrected. Services were restored by 10:50 pm. We do not anticipate that the problem will recur. If it does it can be corrected quickly. The WebCT Vista support team will be monitoring the performance of the system to ensure consistent and reliable service during the exam period. Once again we apologize for the inconvenience this has caused.
A water-damaged cable is affecting elevator phones in buildings along McTavish Street. Possibly affected buildings are: McLennan Library, Redpath Library, Redpath Museum, Leacock Building, Peterson Hall, Student Services Building, 3434 McTavish, Faculty Club, McGill Bookstore. Elevator phones have been automatically dialing the security office. This problem may persist until Monday morning.
