A minor update will be applied to myCourses on Wednesday, April 30 from 12:00 am to 8:00 am. This update will build on the stability of the learning environment and add a few new features for both instructors and students, ranging from the ability to drag and drop files directly into the list of content, to replying inline within discussions.
There will be maintenance on the Bcooltv streaming service on Monday, April 14 between 1:30 pm and 2:30 pm. During this time all archived events will not be available for streaming. Lecture recordings will not be impacted.
Due to maintenance of our Microsoft Office Server infrastructure, Office 2013 users at McGill will experience some temporary changes to the look and feel of Office 2013. These changes will be taking place over the upcoming long weekend, starting Wednesday, April 16, 2014 and ending early on Tuesday, April 22, 2014.
During the maintenance period :
- The Office 2013 theme may revert back to the Microsoft Office 2013 standard look/theme.

McGill IT Services has developed an online course to provide our community with guidance and resources to remain vigilant and resilient in the face of IT security threats. The first module of this course focuses on "phishing", the term used to describe various schemes used to lure unsuspecting people into divulging their personal information. You’ll learn ways to recognize phishing emails and how to identify fraudulent website addresses.
This course is now available to all McGill Students, Faculty and Staff via myCourses, the learning management system.
The Public Display System will be unavailable from 8:00 am Monday April 14, 2014 to 6:00 pm Tuesday April 15, 2014 due to an upgrade to a new version of the underlying software and hardware.
During this downtime, display screens across campus will display a message saying that they are undergoing maintenance, and the Cisco Digital Media Manager interface will be unavailable to upload/change screen content.
You may have become aware, through media or other means, of a computer security vulnerability called Heartbleed that is affecting networks around the world.
This bug, which has existed since late 2011 but was only widely recognized this week, makes password and other sensitive data vulnerable to theft.
Maintenance will be performed on the campus & REZ wireless networks on Thursday, April 10, from 4:00 am to 7:00am. You may be disconnected from the wireless network for approximately 15 minutes during the maintenance period.
We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause.
The wireless certificate used by McGill University will be changed on Friday, April 11th at 7:00 am. The majority of devices should automatically re-authenticate to the wireless network and should not experience any loss of connectivity.
If you are presented with a certificate (or Windows Security) warning when connecting to McGill's wireless networks after the change, do one of the following:

Most of the affected computers have been restored with MS Office 2013. All affected users were contacted, but we have not received replies from users of the few remaining affected computers.
