New sign-in page for Office 365 portal

Sign into McGill

As of Tuesday, June 23, 2015 at approximately noon, when you sign into McGill's OneDrive for Business or other Office 365 applications (via https://portal.office.com or https://outlook.com/mcgill.ca) you will notice a new sign-in page, instead of the small pop-up authentication window.

This change is being done now in anticipation of migrating the first batch of student and alumni email mailboxes to the Office 365 platform next week.

NEW: IT Asset Management Regulation

McGill's Procurement Services, in conjunction with IT Services and Facilities Management and Ancillary Services, has introduced a new IT Asset Management Regulation, which aims to direct the University toward the sound management, longevity and optimization of IT Assets.  The regulation, now in effect, covers activities from the initial procurement of IT equipment, to usage and reuse criteria, through end of life management.

Windows - unable to log on due to update

Due to a Windows update last night, some users may not be able to log on. They are stuck on 'Step 3 of 3'. To reach the log on screen, press CTRL + ALT + DEL.

Summer 2015 myCourses minor upgrade

A minor upgrade of the myCourses Learning Management System will take place from Sunday, July 12th, at 9:00pm until Monday, July 13th, at 1:00pm. During this time, myCourses will be completely unavailable to instructors and students. If you are using myCourses this summer, please ensure you do not schedule any assignments or quizzes for those days. The upgrade will bring some minor improvements, such as a simpler process to copy courses.

Phishing scam: "Subject: Dear mcgill.ca Email User"

A phishing attempt is circulating with the subject line "Subject: Dear mcgill.ca Email User". The message says that we are updating our email database due to upcoming firewall upgrade and that you need to revalidate your email account to avoid it being deleted. A sample of the email is shown below.

Please DO NOT click on the link. Delete this email immediately! It does NOT come from a McGill source.

It is a fraudulent attempt to gain access to your personal information. McGill never solicits any such information by email.

uPrint - Campus printing maintenance Monday, May 25, 7pm

uPrint, the Campus Printing service, will undergo maintenance on Monday, May 25 from 7:00 pm to 8:00 pm, during which time the uPrint system will be unavailable for approximately 15 minutes.  Users may be unable to send jobs to the print queue, release previously sent jobs, and/or copy.

If you do attempt to use the uPrint service during this time and find yourself unable to print or copy, we recommend waiting 15 minutes before trying again.

Phishing scam: "Subject: Your Account will be Temporary Suspended"

A phishing attempt is circulating with the subject line "Subject: Your Account will be Temporary Suspended". The message says that your mailbox is running out of data storage and will be suspended, and asks you to log on to a fraudulent website to upgrade / add more data space. A sample of the email is shown below.

Resolved - Login issues with Banner (INB)

Update - 11:55am

The issue has been resolved. If you experienced the issue, you will need to close and then reopen your browser.

Some users cannot log in to Banner (INB). When attempting to do so, they get an "Ora-12154 TNS Error" error message that asks them to close down their Java Client and try again.

If you experience the issue, please close your Banner window and browser, wait a minute or two, then try again.
