A phishing attempt is circulating with the subject line "RE: ITSUPPORT". The message says that your email will be blocked and you are advised to verify your email account by clicking on a fraudulent website. A sample of the email is shown below.

It is a fraudulent attempt to gain access to your personal information. McGill never solicits any such information by email.

uApply (Graduate Admissions System) maintenance - December 23

The uApply system will undergo a scheduled maintenance operation Tuesday, December 23, from 5:30 pm to 8:00 pm. The system will be unavailable during this period. 

uApply is the system used by applicants to McGill graduate programs and by admissions staff to process those applications.

Pension System users: if you use Firefox, you may see a warning message

Firefox users attempting to log into McGill’s pension site (http://www.mcgill.ca/hr/bp/pensions/access) might see a warning message stating "This Connection is Untrusted". The warning is displayed because the Mozilla organization hasn’t yet approved the security certificate used by the site.

Scam?

With holidays fast approaching, cybercriminals are taking advantage of people's vacation planning, online shopping, and expected package deliveries. Millions of phishing scam emails are being sent out daily, spoofing trusted brands, retailers, postal services, banks, stores, and more. Many of these emails look legitimate, and it gets harder to tell what's a real email, and what's a scam.
