Some students accessing myMcGill will continue to experience login errors

Some students will not be able to log in to the University portal, myMcGill, due to a technical problem. The students affected by this problem will see the message "Invalid username or password. Please try again" even when their credentials are correctly entered. This problem is being investigated. Please monitor future announcements for when this issue has been resolved.

Phone system problems - no outside calls

We are currently experiencing problems with the McGill telephone system. No outbound calls are allowed at this time. However, calls coming in from outside McGill are working. An update will be posted here when more information is available.

E-payment service unavailable Tuesday morning

The McGill e-payment service for processing all Internet-based credit card payments, such as those associated with applications for admission to McGill or McGill-licensed software (ELMS), will be unavailable Tuesday, February 6, from 8 am to 8:30 am.

Please note that wireless access will be unavailable on Tuesday, October 4 (tomorrow), from 5 am to 6:30 am, due to system maintenance. Other than a two-minute interruption during this period, wireless sessions already in progress should not be affected.

Service Pack 2 installation on Windows XP machines not recommended at this time

ICS does not recommend that our users install Service Pack 2 on Windows XP machines at this time. Resolutions to SP2 problems are still being sought. Updates on the situation will be posted as more information becomes available. Meanwhile ICS, in collaboration with faculty and department LAN administrators, is compiling some of the most recent problems encountered as a result of SP2 installation.

IMAP and POP email clients need to be enabled for SSL

By the end of January 2008, McGill IST will enforce Secure Sockets Layer (SSL) for all on-campus users who have configured their email clients to use IMAP or POP (Outlook Express, Eudora, Entourage, etc.). In early October, SSL was made mandatory for all external clients and affiliates. This new restriction will apply to ALL INTERNAL EMAIL clients as well. See "Details" for instructions.
