This year's fair will focus on enhancing student learning through innovative technologies. Faculty will be able to share their teaching experiences with different technologies and demonstrate how they use them to enhance teaching and learning. IMS specialists will guide faculty through hands-on tours of the new features of WebCT Vista and other new technologies for teaching. Representatives from McGill's Information Systems and Technology (IST) units will also provide information about their services. Full details on website (below). Network connections from Solin Hall and the MUHC were interrupted earlier today due to a minor landslide, which broke a fibre cable link just outside the McIntyre Medical Building. Network crews were able to restore service by 3:00 pm the same day.
Please be advised that ICS Customer Support will be closed today (Thursday) at 16h00. Telephone support will be available tomorrow at 08h00.
Some students will not be able to log in to the University portal, myMcGill, due to a technical problem. The students affected by this problem will see the message "Invalid username or password. Please try again" even when their credentials are correctly entered. This problem is being investigated. Please monitor future announcements for when this issue has been resolved.
Please note that email on the po-box server (@po-box.mcgill.ca) will be unavailable beginning Friday, August 5, 2005 at 18h00 until 18h00 Sunday, August 7, 2005 while maintenance is being done. Incoming messages will be queued and delivered once the system is back up. Note that this work is in preparation for increasing the size of po-box mailboxes.
Earlier problems with the McGill phone system have been resolved and service has been restored to 90 per cent. Some users may still experience a fast busy tone when attempting to make outbound calls. An update will be posted when more information is available.
