New Times Arabic transliteration font

Although students are encouraged to use unicode characters for diacritics, those who wish to use the New Times Arabic font will find the font, instructions for its use and a transliteration table below:

Please note this font is free to use for academic purposes.

1. The Transliteration table:

Download: Transliteration table [.doc]

2. Download the required font and install the font (Windows only)

1) In order to install the font, first download the Transliteration Font [.ttf] and install on your computer (Font name is New Times Arabic)

2) Follow these steps to manually install the font:

  1. Click START button
  2. Select SETTINGS then CONTROL PANEL
  3. In CONTROL PANEL select FONTS
  4. Under FILE select INSTALL NEW FONTS
  5. Open the location for the New Font (List of Fonts will read Times New Arabic)
  6. Under LIST OF FONTS, Highlight the Font then click OK
