Other information: An interdisciplinary research seminar on topics of interest related to African Studies. Teaching experience at a graduate level in African Studies preferred, undergraduate teaching experience in African Studies at a minimum

Regular Research Assistant Posting
Position: Regular Research Assistant (Knowledge Mobilization Officer).
Term: One year (1 January – 31 December 2018). Possibility of earlier start depending on availability.
Reporting to: Professor Sonia Laszlo, Director, ISID.
Salary: $22.61 dollars per hour, plus benefits.
Workweek: 35 hours.
Education and professional background: Master’s Degree in Economics, Political Science, International Development, Anthropology, Sociology, Geography or related disciplines. Strong applicants from other fields will also be considered. 1-2 years relevant experience in a research and research dissemination position.
Other requirements: Strong background in research methods in the social sciences, especially quantitative methods or mixed methods. Strong writing skills with demonstrated experience in Knowledge Translation. Proficiency in English, Spanish and French. Graphic design skills (Adobe Pro) an asset, as well as competency with MS Word, Excel, Adobe, basic web editing and design. Strong sense of personal initiative and creativity in regards to research dissemination.
Primary Responsibilities: The Research Assistant will produce and disseminate outputs resulting from ISID research and research projects, and support the Director in report writing, in particular to grant and donor agencies. Some writing and elaboration of funded research proposals in coordination with the Institute’s directors. Assist the Executive Director in the elaboration of executive education training program, including publicity and liaison. Support the Associate Director in the writing of Latitudes, the newsletter of the Institute’s research and activities. Support of the Director in other research and outreach activities as needed. Establishment and maintenance of a social media presence in relation to research projects and activities.
