ISEAD exists to promote sustainability in engineering, architecture and urban planning, and to help harness many excellent teaching and research initiatives underway in these areas at McGill and elsewhere. Activities are undertaken throughout the year that are of interest to students, academics, industry professionals, government representatives and the general public. These include such things as:
- Hosting a distinguished visiting speakers series in engineering and design for sustainability;
- Running a summer school in Engineering and Design for Sustainability that is targeted at students (undergraduate and graduate) and also industry and government employees who wish to learn more about the topic;
- Encouraging research and industrial internships;
