Re-visiting Buckminster Fuller in Context and in Motion
Throughout his career R. Buckminster Fuller (1895 - 1983) slipped seamlessly into the multiple roles of the architect, artist, scientist, prophet and poet. As a result, his work and its various manifestations have had far-reaching and cross-disciplinary influence. The aim of this reading group is to read Fuller’s multi-media works (writings, architecture, projects, poetry) within their specific historical/theoretical context as well as against contemporary works that explore similar themes and questions. We will study various artifacts created and inspired by Fuller in order to shed light on this highly complex figure and to understand how his ideas are translated by varied audiences across multiple disciplines and practices.
