Professor Stéfan Sinclair

Department of Language, Literature and Culture

My primary research interests relate to the design, development, use and theorization of digital tools for the humanities. Projects include web-based text analysis and reading environments like Voyant Tools for working with large-scale digital text collections, the Simulated Environment for Theatre (SET), a 3D environment powered by a game engine that allows theatre directors, actors, and historians experiment with drama production, and the Mandala Browser, a flexible visualization interface for exploring the relationships between features in structured data. My upcoming work will focus on the digital environmental humanities to explore ways for humanities scholars to contribute more significantly to contemporary environmental debates in part by leveraging specialized digital tools.
