Clearing customs

When you arrive at Montreal's Pierre Elliott Trudeau International Airport (or other air/land Canadian port of entry), a Canadian customs officer will verify your passport and your entry visa (if you need one), and your letter of acceptance, and will ask you a few questions about the purpose of your visit to Canada.

Mandatory for ALL international students 

All non-Canadians coming to McGill must obtain ALL 3 of the documents below to study legally in Quebec (and Canada) if enrolled in a program lasting 6 months or longer.  Programs shorter than six months (e.g.

Extended Health Insurance for international students

McGill International Student Health Insurance plan has been extended to cover expenses related to Emergency Medical Care, Basic Health and Supplementary Health benefits, as well as Accidental Dismemberment and Repatriation, for international students participating in a study away program.

International students are eligible if you meet the following criteria:

• You are a student registered at McGill University, covered under McGill’s International Student Health Insurance plan - contract no.

  To be used to claim reimbursement after having paid for eligible medical expense. Original receipts must accompany this form.
