Want to avoid lengthy CIC processing times for online Post Graduation Work Permit applications?
International Students (with valid Study Permits) who are from TRV/Entry Visa-exempt countries can now apply for their Post-Grad Work Permits at the following border crossings in Quebec:

The CIC online application system is now WORKING!
Keep in mind that it may be very slow, as thousands of people will likely be trying to access it now. If you've been waiting to apply for an EVN (for your Off-Campus Work Permit) or renew your Study Permit, you should be able to do it now.

Having Trouble With Your Online Work Permit Application?
As described in our January 11th update, Citizenship and Immigration Canada introduced new online applications for Study Permits, Work Permits, and Visas on December 15th, 2012. While some features of the online application have improved, others have caused confusion amongst applicants.

New CIC Online Applications
If you’d had to consult Citizenship and Immigration’s (CIC’s) website in the past few weeks, you’ve probably noticed some significant changes. Not only has CIC revamped their website, they’ve also added new online application options for Temporary Residents (such as Students). Now you can apply online for study permits, student work permits, and temporary resident visas (also known as "entry visas"), including:

Typhoon Bopha hits the Philippines
Over 600 people are reported deceased and 300 still missing after Typhoon Bopha hits the main southern island of Mindanao in the Philippines last Tuesday, causing flash flooding and mass devastation. Some 400,000 people have lost their homes and are being housed in temporary evacuation centers or staying with relatives. Update as of November: Consular Services for Iranian Students in Canada
Please note that the Interests Section of the Islamic Republic of Iran in Washington has confirmed that they will no longer provide consular services for Iranian students currently in Canada who submit applications by mail. For renewal of passports and submission of applications, students are recommended to use the office of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Tehran Tel.: (+98) 21 2777. The following information has been provided by our colleagues at the University of British Columbia.

Update: Consular Services for Iranian Students in Canada
Please note that the Interests Section of the Islamic Republic of Iran in Washington has confirmed that they will be providing consular services for Iranian students currently in Canada. For more details on forms and procedures, please consult their website http://www.daftar.org/far/default.asp . For renewal of passports, students are strongly recommended to use a courier service (rather than registered mail) for faster processing.
