Dr Churchill-Smith is Chair of the Board of Directors, Chief Executive Officer of Montreal Medical International Inc. Dr Dasgupta is an Associate Professor of Medicine at McGill University and an attending physician at the MUHC. She is a general internist and clinical epidemiologist. Her specific area of interest is the prevention of cardiovascular disease in patients with type 2 diabetes or other conditions of insulin resistance. Dr Dasgupta is presently conducting a CIHR-funded trial concerning the use of supervised exercise in the treatment of type 2 diabetes.

Dr Daskalopoulou is an Associate Professor of Medicine at McGill University and an attending physician at the MUHC. She completed her medical training at the University of Athens Medical School, her MSc in vascular technology and medicine at the Imperial College in London, UK, and her PhD at the University of Athens. Dr Daskalopoulou is setting up the General Internal Medicine Clinical Research Unit at the Montreal General Hospital, where she will conduct vascular research projects, including image analysis of atherosclerosis plaque composition using non-invasive technology and assessment of arterial stiffness in patients with different cardiovascular risk factors.

Dr Grover is a Professor in the Departments of Medicine and of Epidemiology and Biostatistics at McGill University. He is Director of the Division of Clinical Epidemiology at the Montreal General Hospital and Director of the Cardiac Health Improvement Program. Dr Grover received his research training at the Brigham & Women's Hospital while completing a Master's of Public Administration at the Kennedy School of Government, Harvard University. Dr Grover's major research interest is the development and validation of computer simulation models to forecast the progression of cardiovascular disease and cancer. He has published extensively in major medical journals. In 1991 he was awarded the Henry J. Christian Award for excellence in research at the national meeting of the American Federation for Clinical Research.

Dr Pilote is a Professor of Medicine and James McGill Chair at McGill University. She is Director of the Division of General Internal Medicine, MUHC and McGill University. Dr Pilote completed an MPH at the Harvard School of Public Health and a PhD in epidemiology at the University of California at Berkeley. Dr Pilote's interests include cardiovascular epidemiology, outcomes research and health services research. Dr Flegel is a Professor of Medicine at McGill University and an attending physician at the MUHC. He obtained an MSc in Epidemiology from the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine, London University. From 1997 to 2006, Dr Flegel was an Associate Editor, and is now the Senior Associate Editor at the Canadian Medical Association Journal. His research interests are in cardiovascular disease and stroke, environment and cause-specific mortality, basic concepts in clinical medicine and the history of medicine.

Dr Todd C. Lee

Dr Lee is an Assistant Professor of Medicine at McGill University and an attending physician at the MUHC. He is also Chief of Service of a clinical teaching unit and current director of the General Internal Medicine Consultation Service at the RVH. He received his undergraduate and medical degrees from the University of Toronto and then completed his residency training in internal medicine and a fellowship in infectious diseases also at the University of Toronto. Subsequently, he received his Masters of Public Health from Harvard University. His academic interests include quality improvement and patient safety, with a current emphasis on medication safety. He sits on the MUHC medication safety subcommittee and is a member of the MUHC's antimicrobial stewardship program.

Dr Maniatis is an Assistant Professor of Medicine at McGill University and an attending physician at the MUHC. He is the Program Director of the McGill Internal Medicine Core Post-graduate Training Program. Dr Maniatis completed a MSc in Bioethics at McGill University and is an affiliate member of the McGill Biomedical Ethics Unit. He is clinical ethicist for the Douglas Mental Health and University Institute and Chair of one of the Research Ethics Boards at the Royal Victoria Hospital. Dr Snell is a Professor of Medicine at McGill University, an active Core Faculty member of McGill’s Centre for Medical Education and is the Senior Clinician Educator at the Royal College of Physicians Surgeons of Canada. She obtained her undergraduate and medical degrees at the University of Alberta, and a Master's degree in Medical Education from the University of Illinois at Chicago, and did her Internal Medicine residency at McGill University. She has served as Vice Chair (Education) in the Department of Medicine, Associate Physician-in-Chief MUHC, Director of the McGill Division of General Internal Medicine, Associate Dean for Continuing Medical Education at McGill, Director of the Undergraduate Internal Medicine program & Program Director of the General Internal Medicine Fellowship. She has been President of the Canadian Society of Internal Medicine and Governor of the American College of Physicians for Quebec, and has served on the executive of the Canadian Association of Medical Education.

She is active in teaching, administration and educational scholarship at all levels of medical training.  She co-directs the McGill Master’s program in Medical Education. Her current education and research interests include improving teaching skills of faculty and residents, teaching & evaluating CanMEDS competencies, issues in clinical teaching and learning, leadership in medical education and educational scholarship. She has organized and participated in faculty development, resident development and teaching improvement programs, and education and leadership presentations across Canada and internationally.

Dr Willemot is an Assistant Professor of Medicine at McGill and an attending physician at the MUHC. He is Co-Director of the General Internal Medicine (GIM) clinic at the Royal Victoria Hospital, and is active in Obstetrical Medicine and Peri-operative Medicine. Dr Kahn is a Professor of Medicine and an Associate Member of the Department of Epidemiology and Biostatistics at McGill University. She completed a MSc in Epidemiology and Biostatistics at McGill University and currently heads the Epidemiology of Thromboembolism Unit within the Centre for Clinical Epidemiology and Community Studies at the Jewish General Hospital, where she is also Director of the Multidisciplinary Thrombosis Clinic and Associate Director for Clinical Research. She is the Director of the McGill Thrombosis Fellowship, a one year fellowship designed to train local and international physicians to become experts in thrombosis medicine. Dr Kahn is a past Chair of the CIHR Randomized Controlled Trials Grants Committee. Her clinical and research interests are focused on diagnosis, prevention, treatment and screening issues relating to thrombotic disorders. She is a Chapter Chair for the upcoming 9th ACCP Internal Consensus Guidelines on prevention of venous thromboembolism, and is recognized internationally as an expert in thrombosis prevention, post-thrombotic syndrome as well as quality of life after venous thromboembolism.

Dr Schiffrin is Professor and Vice-Chair (Research), Department of Medicine, McGill University, Physician-in-Chief, Department of Medicine, Jewish General Hospital, and Canada Research Chair in Hypertension and Vascular Research, Lady Davis Institute for Medical Research. In recognition of his accomplishments and contributions in his field, in 2010 Dr Schiffrin was appointed a Member of the Order of Canada and presented with the Bjorn Folkow Award of the European Society of Hypertension. Dr Schiffrin just now received  the 2011 Excellence Award for Research in Hypertension of the American Heart Association. The citation of the award reads: For his pioneering translational work leading to discovery of mechanisms involved in the remodeling of small resistance arteries in experimental and human hypertension. His groundbreaking research demonstrated that antihypertensive therapy electively causes regression of vascular remodeling in hypertensive patients. His seminal studies on angiotensin II, aldosterone and endothelin have elucidated the importance of these hormones in the vascular biology of hypertension.
