The Department of Civil Engineering and Applied Mechanics looks at scientific and engineering knowledge and its application in design and construction. The Department has both undergraduate and graduate programs that concentrate primarily on the following five areas of specialization: environmental engineering, geomechanics and geotechnical engineering, hydraulic and water resources engineering, structural engineering and construction materials, and transportation engineering.
