What McGill is doing

First we surveyed the entire McGill community. As both provincial and federal legislations share three of the target groups, we combined the requirements for both legislations onto the one survey.

This process started November 2002, and the first report was sent to the Provincial governement in May 2003.

Ongoing

The University must continue to collect employment equity data from all new employees. In order to meet this obligation, surveys are mailed to all new employees on a monthly basis.

Who is being surveyed?

All regular and term faculty and staff. Casuals and those holding academic students appointments, including Post Doctoral Fellows, are excluded.

Gathering & recording of data

The survey data is entered into a confidential database under the management of the Employment Equity area in HR.

This data is compiled in order to produce statistics and reports, as required by Provincial and Federal legislations.
