Training and development
Welcome to Organizational Development
Training & Development is included under H.R.’s umbrella of Organizational Development Services. Training is a key component of McGill University’s strategy to attract, develop and retain the best talent. While some training is decentralized at McGill, Human Resources meets training needs in several different ways:
- Specialized programs, including the Leadership Development Program, the French Program and Service Excellence
- A comprehensive training calendar for non-technical training, in business and managerial practices, communications and organizational effectiveness
- Customized training adapted to various units and work groups
Learning components are also integrated into Performance Dialogue and initiatives such as Process Mapping & Improvement.

Organizational Development
What we’re about…
In support of HR’s Mission, Organizational Development initiates and/or supports change initiatives across the University, emphasizing organizational, team and individual effectiveness and client-centered service.
We aim to build knowhow, skill and confidence amongst our leaders and their teams through the provision of individual and group training, coaching, action research, team developmental activities and process improvement initiatives.
Using a practical approach informed by process consulting principles, best practices and quality tools, we accompany individuals and teams through learning experiences that heighten shared understanding of current realities and lead to optimal solutions.
We work with clients at various stages of change and transformational processes: from assessing needs and properly diagnosing issues, to developing and implementing solutions and reevaluating plans and programs.
Our commitment is to help employees and work teams set and reach their goals, against the backdrop of McGill’s ever evolving landscape.
