Senior Analyst (IST3A)
Position Summary:
Reporting to the Portfolio Manager, the Senior Analyst will be a key contributor to the development and support of the HR/Payroll Systems to ensure that they meet the current and future needs of the stakeholders and user community within the University. Working directly with Business Analysts, Database Administrators, Programmer / Application Developers, and Solution Architect will transform conceptual system designs into detailed functional specifications in accordance with current design standards.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Provide application support for users and acts as a liaison between these users and the software development team and/or third-party vendors.
- Proactively communicate and collaborate with business analysts and users to analyze the functional requirements, both for new systems and for support of existing systems.
- Evaluate feasibility of system change requests.
- Deliver the following artifacts, but not limited to: functional specifications, interface designs, data conversion and archiving specifications for hand off to the software development team and/or third-party vendors.
- Conduct detailed technical and functional testing of new systems and system enhancements to ensure programming has been done in accordance with detailed functional specifications.
Minimum Education & Experience:
Undergraduate degree
Five (5) years' related experience
Other Qualifying Skills And/Or Abilities:
Extensive functional knowledge of HR and Payroll business domains (from a business and system perspective) and a proven track record at implementing and supporting large ERP HR and integrated Payroll systems. Proven-track record in the development and support of client-server and web-application systems. Excellent analytical and problem solving skills and ability to perform root/cause analysis. Demonstrated knowledge of functional analysis and data analysis and ability to understand and clarify business needs formulated by requesters and stakeholders. Demonstrated ability to work on multiple initiatives and to manage deadlines. Experience in working with third-party software and third-party suppliers. Knowledge of the following would be an asset: business process techniques (BPMN), Master Solution Delivery methodologies (Macroscope Productivity Center), SOA concepts. Familiarity with Oracle, SQL, Java considered and experience with Ellucian’s Banner applications considered an asset. Demonstrated communication, documentation / writing and planning skills. Service-oriented, highly motivated and organized, has the ability to work both independently and as a team member with multiple teams in cross functional set-up, showing initiative, creativity and judgment. English, spoken and written. French spoken and read.
