Position Title: 
Production Control Specialist (IST2A)
Position Summary: 
Support the IT infrastructure with specific emphasis on enterprise application batch scheduling and change control. The incumbent will work closely with clients and other IT Professionals to assess needs, design, build and test workflows using the McGill University’s batch scheduling tool and supporting software. Other responsibilities include configuration of release packages and promotion of code between environments.
Primary Responsibilities: 
  • Provide Level 2 and 3 technical support.
  • Provide status reports, problem summaries and project status.
  • Assist development team with batch job workflow modeling, design and tuning and ensure that workflows are run according to their defined schedules and parameters.
  • Develop procedural documentation and work methodologies and ensure documentation is up to date, including back-off procedures.
  • Participate in defining, implementing and measuring KPI’s and routinely audit workflows and client access to ensure compliance with established standards, policies and procedures.
  • Participate in software/hardware upgrades including planning, scheduling and testing.
  • Represent the team in project meetings with customer and technical areas.
  • Setup, test, monitor, and maintain system jobs and process workflows.
  • Prepare and manage change requests.
  • Ensure proper sign-off/approvals are received before deployment/move to Production.
  • Maintain the integrity of the McGill University’s application manager environments; monitor, troubleshoot, analyse, investigate failed processes, take corrective measures and create incident/problem tickets.
  • Using McGill change control toolset, configure release packages and promote code from development environments to Integration, Pre-Prod and Prod environments
  • Administer source code library and write and update technical documentation.
  • Keeping abreast of new technology  and best practices
Minimum Education & Experience: 

Undergraduate degree

Three (3) years' related experience

Other Qualifying Skills And/Or Abilities: 
Functional knowledge of supporting software; UC4, Banner, SQR, Crystal Reports, PL/SQL, PERL, SSH, SFTP, PGP, JAVA, GIT, etc. Technical understanding of distributed computing platforms, batch processing and change control concepts. Demonstrated organizational, interpersonal, communication and problem solving skills. Capable of working independently and autonomously with minimal supervision, managing multiple priorities and operating in a fast-paced and demanding environment. Attention to detail with strong abiltity to verify work with. Demonstrated ability to troubleshoot, recommend solutions and improvements. Good knowledge of Windows, Oracle and UNIX/Linux environments with ability to write UNIX/Linux and Windows scripts as well as SQL queries/programs. Strong project management, change & time management and documentation skills. ITIL concepts or similar. English, spoken, written and read. French spoken and read.

Additional Information: 
On-call support - This requires carrying and responding to cell phone calls in a 24X7 rotating support role with call escalation and after hours support responsibilities. May be required to work off-hours (based on a pre-determined schedule).
