Job Summary: 
Under the direction of the immediate supervisor, oversees the day-to-day operations of a laboratory, shop or facility. Organizes, distributes and verifies the work of others and participates in their training. Performs technical duties in the field of instrumentation and automation, electronics, electricity or electrodynamics. Designs, builds and installs electronic and electrical circuitry and machinery. Participates in projects and experiments. Prepares and operates laboratory equipment. Compiles data. Acts as resource person, resolves problems and instructs others. Maintains equipment.
Major Duties and Responsibilities: 
1. Oversees the day-to-day operations of a laboratory, shop or facility. Organizes, distributes and verifies the work of others and participates in their training.

2. Participates in projects and experiments in the field of instrumentation and automation, electronics, electricity or electrodynamics. Discusses the orientation and technical demands of the projects. Reviews, selects and modifies methodology. Assumes responsibility for the technical aspects in the execution of these projects.

3. Devises, designs and builds electronic and electrical circuitry as well as machinery. Modifies and installs various machines or circuits.

4. Draws plans, sketches, and writes technical documents dealing with electrical distribution, lighting and electronic control systems for the purpose of explaining how to install or improve electrical or electronic systems; proceeds with execution as required. Sets up high or low voltage inlets. Builds various assemblies for high tension and plasma research.

5. Devises and builds assemblies by interfacing electronic devices with mechanical components for control and measuring purposes. Conducts required testing.

6. Assembles, from plans, electrical circuits, electronic equipment and networks; installs required cabling and connections.

7. Acts as resource person, resolves problems and instructs others. Provides technical guidance and assistance concerning work methods, the use of equipment and techniques, and the analysis of results.

8. Develops methodology. Assesses equipment needs. Coordinates the provision of equipment. Oversees equipment loans.

9. Prepares and operates laboratory equipment. Ensures the proper use of equipment and that safety procedures are followed.

10. Compiles data. Prepares reports. Analyzes and discusses results and their interpretation with others. Maintains records and files.

11. Maintains equipment and performs repairs. Arranges for servicing.

12. Maintains inventory. Recommends and purchases equipment and material.

13. Keeps abreast of new developments in the field to update skills and knowledge.

14. Uses equipment such as computers, audio-visual equipment, oscilloscopes, voltage regulators, probes, soldering equipment, drills and power tools.

Education and Experience: 
DEC III (Electronics Technology)
Four (4) years' related experience.
