Job Summary: 
Under the direction of the immediate supervisor, organizes the day-to-day operations of an agronomy centre. Organizes, distributes and verifies the work of others and participates in their training. Establishes priorities and organizes schedule of land and equipment use. Participates in projects and experiments. Performs a variety of specialized technical tasks in the field of agronomy. Coordinates provision of equipment. Acts as resource person, resolves problems and instructs others. Maintains equipment. Maintains records.
Major Duties and Responsibilities: 
1. Organizes the day-to-day operations of an agronomy centre. Organizes, distributes and verifies the work of others and participates in their training.

2. Establishes priorities and organizes schedule of land and equipment use. Assesses needs and coordinates provision of equipment and materials.

3. Participates in projects and experiments in the field of agronomy. Discusses the orientation and technical demands of the projects. Reviews, selects and modifies methodology. Assumes responsibility for the technical aspects in the execution of these projects.

4. Performs a variety of specialized technical tasks such as assessing field site characteristics and selecting field locations, and determining requirements for fertilizers and pesticides.

5. Participates in the production, harvest, storage and sale of seeds and crops.

6. Acts as resource person, resolves problems and instructs others. Provides technical guidance and assistance concerning work methods, the use of equipment and techniques, and the analysis of results.

7. Compiles experimental and analytical data. Prepares reports. Analyzes and discusses results and their interpretation with others. Participates in devising new methodology. Maintains records and files.

8. Ensures the proper use of equipment and compliance with safety regulations. Ensures proper storage, handling and disposal of hazardous materials.

9. Maintains equipment and performs repairs. Arranges for servicing.

10. Maintains inventory. Recommends and purchases equipment and material.

11. Performs accounting functions such as monitoring expenditures, verifying ledgers and resolving discrepancies.

12. Keeps abreast of new developments in the field to update skills and knowledge.

13. Operates a variety of farm equipment and machinery such as ploughs, seeders, manure spreaders, harvesters, tractors, trucks, snow blowers and lawn mowers. Uses tools such as drills, saws, soldering and welding tools, and personal computer.

Education and Experience: 
DEC III (Horticulture or Farm Management or Natural Sciences Technology)
Three (3) years' related experience.
