Position Title: 
Faculty Research Financial Adm (FIN1B)
Position Summary: 
Working for the assigned units the incumbent will act as primary contact for researchers' post-award concerns, provide guidance and training on financial affairs to professors, researchers and faculty administrators, resolve issues including over-expenditures and approve financial transactions. Liaise with appropriate units including Research & Restricted Funds, Research Grant Office and Financial Services to ensure unit's compliance with rules and regulations. Liaise with external Granting Agencies. Supervise and train students/staff.
Primary Responsibilities: 
  • Provide accounting services to support the recording and internal and/or external reporting of the University's financial position and ensure an accurate reflection of the University's financial position through the formulation, administration and implementation of generally accepted accounting principles, regulations and controls.
  • Perform and/or organize activities to support the daily operations of a faculty/department/unit by ensuring that accounting administration functions are carried out in accordance with established goals and objectives.
  • Administer operating and other funds ensuring adherence to internal and external accounting policies and procedures or contract obligations.
  • Develop and/or implement procedures and systems that are moderately complex in support of the unit's operations and in accordance with University policies and procedures.
  • Act as advisor to unit members/clients regarding University accounting policies and procedures.
Minimum Education & Experience: 

DEC III

Three (3) years' related experience

Other Qualifying Skills And/Or Abilities: 
Experience in accounting, budget procedures, financial research administration and granting agencies. Proven ability to prioritize and meet specific deadlines. Ability to work both autonomously and as part of a team. Ability to interact effectively with all levels of staff, faculty and external stakeholders. Proven skills in investigation, follow-up and problem solving. Demonstrated ability to work in a PC environment using advanced spreadsheet skills, databases, Minerva, Banner (FIS) and Crystal Reports. English, spoken and written, basic French knowledge.
