Activité bilingue. Explore a security patrol vehicle and “its treasures”. Test the siren, the emergency lights, the walkie-talkie; listen in on a conversation over the radio. Catch a glimpse of the many security cameras and video screens in the control centre. Get a briefing on what happens when a fire alarm is triggered or an ambulance arrives. Understand the role and training of our Campus security agents, and their relationship with the Campus community.

Activité bilingue. Use a microscope and look for live bacteria at work, trying to ferment your yogurt. Short slide presentation to describe the various steps of the process.
9:30 - 10:05 am: The fascinating world of "creepy crawlies" *bilingual* (ages 8-15)

Activité bilingue. The Lyman Entomological Museum, located on the Macdonald Campus, is the second largest insect collection in Canada. Please come for a guided tour and explore the 3 million insect specimens collected all around the world. The second part of the visit will bring you into the live insect laboratory where you will have a chance to observe (or even handle) a few six-legged crawlies.

Participants will go through various stations to take a “blind smell test” and try to decipher the components of aromatic solutions often found in our food. They will discover the instruments used in this particular lab and their purpose. Simple experiments requiring microwave technology or mixing solutions and predicting reactions will be demonstrated. Caution: This activity is not recommended for visitors with hypersensitivity to scents/aromas, or with serious allergic condition.

Activité bilingue. Learn how a vermicompost bin works and discover its tiny live organisms (worms) acting like magicians on organic compostables. First, you may have to use your hands to find them! A short slide presentation will describe the “biology” of worms.

11:00 am - 12pm: Mission "technology and robotics" - Find hidden objects (ages 10-15)

Location: Macdonald Campus, Barton Building, B1-015 (basement)
Various interactive games that will challenge participants’ resourcefulness and capacity to use technology – a handheld GPS unit – to search for hidden objects. Then they will make use of remote-control navigation technology to set a challenge course for LEGO robots and watch how they overcome obstacles to get to the finish line.

1:00 pm - 2:30 pm: Day in the life of a Farmer: Tour of Macdonald Campus Farm *bilingual* (ages 8-15)

Location: Macdonald Campus Farm Centre
Activité bilingue. Visitors will rotate through the various areas and displays: Guided tour of Dairy Barn. Demonstration on how to care and feed the calves. Visit the Mini-Farm (goats, sheep, ducks, geese, llamas, donkey, pony, rabbits, chicks). Experience a milking simulation of our model cow. Hop on the wagon for a tractor ride (weather permitting).
