If you have continued health coverage post-retirement, you may switch from single to family coverage within 60 days of the event. If you miss the 60-day window, your spouse will be added effective January 1st of the following year. However, If your spouse has no other health coverage, he/she will be added immediately.
If you are under 65, you may opt out of the McGill Supplemental Health Plan provided you can confirm, in writing, that you have coverage available through another group health plan (such as your spouse's plan).
Note that unless you are under age 65, and have no other health coverage, you will not be able to rejoin the plan at a later date.
If you have continued dental coverage post retirement, you may switch from single to family coverage within 60 days of the event. If you miss the 60-day window, your spouse will be eligible for coverage under the McGill Dental Plan effective January 1st of the following year.
