Start of negotiations with floor fellows

McGill’s floor fellows were certified in May 2014. The parties held their first bargaining session on October 31, where they exchanged proposals.  The session also included a presentation of floor fellows’ roles and responsibilities and their objectives.  Finally, the parties discussed how the bargaining process should unfold, preferred dates for negotiations, timelines and communications. McGill and SEU (trades) discuss technical support roles

The parties met on September 24 to discuss the mechanism of potentially implementing technical support roles. Although the parties see the advantages of introducing such roles, no agreement was reached as the parties could not agree on the description to include in the collective agreement or on the premium to be paid.

Discussions with SEU (trades) on proposed appointment of technical support

The parties met on June 12, 2014 and, as agreed at the previous meeting, the university proposed the text of a letter of agreement concerning technical support roles.  Based on comments made by the union at the previous meeting, the university also submitted a modified document concerning the required qualifying skills and abilities for one of the technical support roles....

New technical role within SEU (trades)

The parties met on April 10, 2014 and discussed the process of appointing lead hands. The union presented its position and proposed a change that would be included in the 3 collective agreements. The university agreed to the proposed change and the clause was ratified by the parties. In line with this discussion, the parties agreed to make a text adjustment concerning working foremen.
