SUMMARY OF UPDATES

  1. Policy on Hours of Work
    Staff hired into a regular “M” position before December 1, 2006 may now apply for a half-day credit for any Summer Friday morning missed after June 26, 2015 due to maternity leave. Previously, credit was only available for Summer Fridays missed due to Short-Term Disability leave. The deadline to apply for both credits has been extended to 5:00 p.m. on August 1, 2017.

    As well, the Policy now includes a calendar explaining how Summer Fridays are scheduled, and a guide to determining when they will fall in any given year.

  2. On-Call Policy
    The on-call premium has increased from $14.59 to $15.02.

  3. Staffing Policy
    The following groups of employees may now be offered a regular position without that position being posted:

    a) Regular non-unionized administrative and support staff being transferred or promoted within a Faculty, Department or Unity, and/or those who have been given notice of lay off, whether they have employment security or not;

    b) External candidates fully paid through research funds who are arriving with a Researcher or who have worked with a Researcher at the same laboratory; and

    c) Candidates fully paid through research funds who have a term position being changed to a regular position.
