Emergency travel assistance

Planning a trip?

While you are temporarily out of the country or province of residence, the McGill Supplemental Health Plan offers you and your eligible spouse and children emergency medical coverage. For information on what is covered and how to submit claims go to Out of country services .

For helpful information and emergency contact phone numbers consult Manulife's travel_bulletin_manulife_plan_members.pdf.  More info can also be found on Manulife's website

Stable conditions are covered under the plan.  For important information, check  stable_pdf.pdf

If you are concerned as to how Manulife’s criteria may affect your specific situation, contact Manulife Financial’s emergency services provider,  Allianz Global Assistance, at 1-800-265-9977.  You will need to provide the 4 digit Group # 9505 (on the back of your drug/travel card), as well as your Manulife Group Plan number, 85210, and your certificate number, which is your McGill ID number.

IMPORTANT!  Business Travel : If you plan to be outside the province for 183 days or more eg. sabbatical leave

To ensure your coverage under the Quebec Health Insurance Plan continues while you are away, it is imperative that you notify the Régie before you leave if you plan to be outside the province for 183 days or more. You must also fill out the form entitled Temporary Departure From Québec, available from the Régie. Upon receiving the completed form, the Régie will confirm in writing, if applicable, whether you remain eligible for the Health Insurance Plan.  Consult the RAMQ website  for important details.
