Employee assistance program
What does your employee assistance program offer you?
The Employee Assistance Program or EAP, is a confidential counselling service for you and members of your family. The program offers confidential, short-term counselling (4-6 sessions) and referral services 24 hours a day, 7 days a week - at no cost to you.
We all face problems at some time in our lives. Usually we can cope with these problems or solve them ourselves. However, now and then a problem becomes too difficult for us to manage on our own. We may need assistance, advice - or just someone who will listen.
The EAP is designed to provide you with direct access to experienced professionals who will help you resolve your problems - before they affect your health, family life or job performance.
What kind of concerns does your EAP deal with?
Confidential assistance is available for a broad range of personal and work-related concerns which may affect you or your family, such as:
- Personal and / or job stress
- Relationship issues
- Substance abuse
- Eldercare and childcare
- Parenting issues
- Separation and loss
- Balancing work and family
- Financial or legal problems
- Traumatic events
How do you access the program?
The McGill EAP provider is Longpré. Simply phone them, and a counsellor will offer immediate help and arrange an appointment for you.
If long-term or specialized counselling is required, the counsellor will assist you with a referral to another resource within the community. Consultation with this resource may involve a fee.
Anyone using the program is assured of the strictest privacy. Whatever you discuss with a counsellor is kept absolutely confidential. Longpré counsellors will not release any information without your prior written consent.
The Longpré professionals
Counsellors at Longpré are qualified specialists from different fields (psychology, social work, educational counselling) and are all accredited by their respective professional associates.
They provide confidential off-site counselling at offices across the province of Quebec and with affiliates, across Canada.
