Position Title: 
BI Programmer (IST2A)
Position Summary: 
The Business Intelligence (BI) programmer works on the design, development, and implementation of the BI Solution (including ODS, EDW, OLAP and MDM components) at McGill. The BI Programmer is also responsible for the on-going support, maintenance and evolution of the BI solution. This resource will collaborate with a team of programmers, analysts, DBA and architects to deliver new projects and evolution requests based on the business needs.
Primary Responsibilities: 
  • Participate in the design and development of BI application systems and data warehouse systems using SQL Server databases and Microsoft BI stack;
  • Code, test, and debug new software, as well as perform maintenance and enhancements to existing software;
  • Produce deliverables (including documentation artifacts) related to assigned project(s);
  • Assist in post-implementation support (some off business hours support may be required);
  • Work with the technical team to identify, assess, and correct application issues;
  • Implement and support operational processes related to development and implementation phase work, aligned with Enterprise Architecture directives and ITS standards.
Minimum Education & Experience: 

Undergraduate degree (Computer Science or related field)

Three (3) years' related experience

Other Qualifying Skills And/Or Abilities: 
Demonstrates knowledge of BI and Data warehousing principles and concepts (MDM, ODS, DWH, DM, OLAP, BI Portal). Demonstrated understanding of ETL concepts, standards and best practices and experience using ETL tools. Extensive experience on data warehouse development using SSIS and T-SQL. Strong expertise (minimum three years’ programming experience) with the Microsoft BI Stack (SQL Server, SSIS, SSAS, SSRS, Sharepoint, etc.). Experience with Oracle databases and PL/SQL. Self-motivated and demonstrated ability to work on different projects concurrently. Good team player with strong focus on delivering results to meet the business needs. Good communication skills in English (spoken and written), French (spoken). The following would be considered an asset: Knowledge of the higher education sector; Microsoft (BI solution) certification; Knowledge of Solution Delivery methodologies (Macroscope Productivity Center) and knowledge of ITIL approach.
