LEAN - Process and Problem Solving Methodology

LEAN - Process Improvement, 3-Day Yellow Belt Training Program (For Management & Excluded)

Duration: 3 days
Target population: M's and Excluded positions
Prerequisite: Introduction to Lean Service - White Belt
Cost: $0
Course objectives:
McGill University piloted training in LEAN to support the continuous improvement of processes across the University. This approach gives value to client service, quality, efficiency, staff morale and effective internal communication and cooperation. LEAN is all about simple concepts and tools that can help us build on what works well and what can be improved or eliminated.

The one-day White Belt training is a hands-on introduction to LEAN principles in action. It is also a pre-requisite to the 3-day YELLOW BELT training, which involves the practical application of LEAN tools through case studies. YELLOW BELT participants will have the opportunity to become certified and to qualify for further learning in the area of Value Stream Mapping (to follow).

For more information, please contact us at Organizational Development: OD.HR@McGill.ca.
Prerequisite
The White Belt will give participants an overview of the history, problem solving methodology and the philosophy of Lean. In addition, participants will gain insight as to the applicability of Lean to their work environments. The centerpiece of the course is a simulation showing the same process before and after the application of Lean tools. This course is suitable for all levels of staff engaged in procedural work and/or client service delivery. There is no cost for this course.
