LDP Supervisor Stream - Delegating, Empowering & Developing Others

Traditional leadership development often focuses on helping leaders deal with performance problems, creating a workforce where employees meet their leader only when there is a problem. Leaders hire others for their talent, yet often spend their time managing weaknesses. While addressing substandard performance head on is still a critical leadership competency, extensive research (Gallup, over 2 million interviews, among others) indicates that leaders who focus on building people’s strengths and talents achieve greater results. Furthermore, generational analyses clearly indicate that the newer generation of workers expects to use requisite knowledge, skills, technical competence and to be further developed.
In this one-day workshop, participants learn how to:
• Ensure role clarity and avoid conflict or confusion;
• Analyze others’ strengths, development areas and learning preferences;
• Leverage delegation and empowerment to develop others in alignment with business goals;
• Create clear development plans; and
• Increase others’ commitment to development.
