2012 Winner announcement

Congratulations to our 2012 A. and R. Pietrangeli Memorial Fund Award and ALFA NeuroChem Award winners!!!

Rajesh Valanparambil receives the ALFA Neurochem award:

Rajesh Valanparambil is a PhD student under Dr. Mary M. Stevenson's supervision. The major goal of Rajesh’s research project is to clone and characterize the immunomodulatory
effects of candidate excretory-secretory (ES) proteins derived from the gastrointestinal nematode Heligmosomoides polygyrus. He is also characterizing innate and adaptive immunity to primary and challenge H. polygyrus infections in BXH-2 recombinant inbred mice to investigate the role of myeloid-derived dendritic cells (DC) in CD4+ Th2 cell polarization. The work that is described in his abstract is the results to date on this later aspect of his overall project. Rajesh intends to submit his abstract for presentation at the Keystone Symposium on Type 2 Immunity: Initiation, Maintenance, Homeostasis and Pathology to be held January 10-15, 2012 in Sante Fe, NM, USA. The meeting will be held jointly with the meeting on Pathogenic Processes in Asthma and Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD). Our abstract will be submitted for the 10 September 2012 deadline for consideration of poster presentation.
