The diseases studied by Centre investigators are causes of significant world suffering and mortality. Tuberculosis for example is the number one cause of death from infectious disease worldwide. The focus of the Centre is to identify the genetic basis of susceptibility to these various diseases, to characterize the disease mechanisms and ultimately to find better therapies.
