Assistant Professor
PhD (McGill)
Professor Rudy is Director of the Quebec Studies
Program.
At a broad level I teach and research nineteenth and twentieth century Quebec and Canadian social and cultural history. More specifically, I am interested in everyday interactions between cultural groups in Quebec and their relationships to larger economic and political structures. My current research project looks at the diverse ways in which the Canadian state, at federal, provincial and municipal levels has become dependent on tobacco. I am a member of the Montreal History Group and on the Administrative Committee of Globe: Revue internationale d’études québécoise.
Graduate Supervision in History of Quebec.
