The Shag Shop, a sexual health boutique run by the Student Health Service since 2005, closed its Student Health clinic location in April 2014. The old Shag Shop site has been restructured to allow for a new accessible entrance to First Peoples’ House. We are still looking for a permanent location. As a centre for sexual health products and health education, the Shag Shop can’t set up just anywhere; it needs a site that is accessible and easy to find, but that also allows for students to feel a sense of privacy and discretion with purchasing products, or asking questions.
In the interim, we have moved our sales online! Condoms, lubricants, sustainable menstrual products, pregnancy tests, and alternative contraceptive methods are now available to order. Once ordered, payment and pickup for items will occur in an on campus location (information sent to you via confirmation email). Check out our selection and order at mcgill.ca/healthymcgill/shagshop/ordering.
In addition, a variety of free safer-sex items, including condoms and lube, are available across campus including Dave’s Store (Bronfman basement), Macdonald Campus Student Services (Centennial Centre), Thomson House (main floor washrooms), the Office of Religious and Spiritual Life (Brown Building, suite 2100), and Student Health Services (Brown Building, suite 3300), EUS G-Store (main floor, McConnell Building), AUS Snax (main floor, Leacock Building) & AUS Lounge (Leacock basement), Computer Task Force (Burnside basement, room 1B19) and the SUS office (Burnside basement, room 1B21). Students living in residence also have access to free safer sex items through their floor fellows.
