Strategies for Effective Outlining

Have you struggled to develop a clear structure for your academic writing projects? One of the biggest challenges academic writers face is developing a cohesive text in which the pieces are sequenced in a logical order.

Participate in this workshop and you will learn strategies for:

  • Organizing your ideas and shaping your argument
  • Structuring a piece of writing
  • Working from a structured outline when articulating an argument

Please come to this workshop with an idea for a writing project that you want to outline.

Danielle Barkley holds a Ph.D. from McGill University.  She has taught courses through the McGill Writing Centre, the Faculty of Management, the Department of English and at Bishop's University.  She has also provided writing and consultation services to the McGill Career Centre.

The workshop will be held on McGill's downtown campus on Tuesday, October 20, from 1pm to 3pm.  Registrants will receive the workshop location in a confirmation email.

You may also be interested in a companion workshop, Strategies for Reverse Outlining, which will be held three weeks later.
